History

The evolution of the company

2004 -2006

Dr Maurice Cox joins with Dr Ray Power to form Centric Health and acquires its first practice in Phibsbora, Phoenix Medical. Over the following years, more and more GP practices join the network. In 2005 Vhi SwiftCare Clinics, Ireland's first urgent care clinics, are established as a joint venture between Vhi and Centric Health.

2007-2010

In 2007, Centric Health acquires a stake in Global Diagnostics, a radiology business with operations in Australia, Ireland and the UK. Expansion of a network of GP Partnerships continued during this period. Over the following years, Global Diagnostics is expanded throughout Ireland and the UK.

2010 - 2015

Centric Health invests in the building of large Primary Health Centres in Leinster bringing a number of allied health services together under one roof. Investment in dental practice acquisition and the purchase of Primacare also occurs.

2016 - 2020

Centric Health expands GP practice partnerships outside of Leinster into all provinces in Ireland. In 2017, VHI acquires the Swiftcare clinics from Centric Health. Global Vision is formed, a retinopathy service for diabetic patients, that grows to serve 50% of the Irish market for this cohort. Centric Health expands into the Netherlands, acquiring its first primary care centre in Amsterdam.

2021 - to date

Expansion of the Centric Health network of GP clinics continues throughout Ireland, 76 in total by 2023. Global Diagnostics and Global Vision are acquired by Medica, enabling Centric Health to focus on its core primary care & research and development work centred around chronic disease management and preventative healthcare. Centric Health expands in Germany and continues its growth in the Netherlands.
