Where Compassion Meets Strategy: Building a Health System That Works for People, Dr Aleksandra Spencer Joins Centric Health’s Leadership.

Dr Aleksandra Spencer Joins the Board of Centric Health Ahead of International Women’s Day 2026.
In a sector where patient expectations are rising as rapidly as digital capability, one of Europe’s most forward‑thinking healthcare transformation leaders, Dr Aleksandra “Ola” Spencer represents a new generation of leadership: one that blends scientific rigour, operational excellence and a deeply human vision for the future of care.

Dr Spencer has long championed a simple but radical idea: patients deserve the same transparency, efficiency and personalised experience they expect as consumers. Her philosophy is shaped in part by her years at IBM, where she helped Fortune 500 healthcare organisations transition towards consumer‑centred models, bridging the gap between business strategy and patient need.
Influenced by leaders such as Sloan Kettering’s Indra Nooyi (previously PepsiCo CEO), whose customer‑first mindset fundamentally shaped Spencer’s approach - she brings this lens to every transformation initiative she leads.

For Centric Health, a patient‑centred strategy is not an aspiration - it’s foundational. Dr Spencer’s appointment reinforces this commitment at a pivotal moment when the healthcare industry is navigating AI, patient experience and operational agility.

A Career Built on Reinvention: From Paediatric Oncology to Global Patient Centric Leadership

Dr Spencer began her career on the clinical front lines, completing a PhD in paediatric oncology, where scientific precision and emotional connection must coexist. That foundation continues to shape the way she leads: with clarity, empathy, and a relentless focus on outcomes.

Her career has since spanned more than two decades across healthcare, life sciences and digital innovation. At Optegra Eye Health Care, where she serves as Global Chief Operating Officer, she has led multi‑market expansion, operational performance transformation, and AI‑enabled patient engagement tools that enhance - not replace -the human connection at the heart of care.

Her work during COVID - introducing virtual consultations, paperless systems, and hybrid public/private care pathways - demonstrates her ability to redesign systems at speed while protecting patient care, quality and sustainability.

Earlier senior roles at IBM sharpened her expertise in global digital transformation, innovation management and large‑scale strategy execution - skills that now position her as a leading voice in the future of healthcare.

Strengthening Centric Health’s Vision for Data‑Driven, Human‑Led Care

Centric Health’s investment in data‑empowered primary care, Online Doctors digital enablement and population health research makes this appointment both timely and impactful. Dr Spencer’s blend of scientific training, global digital experience, and passion for patient‑centred transformation aligns directly with the organisation’s ambition.  Dr Spencer commented, “Centric Health represents the kind of healthcare I believe in — patient-centred, clinically rigorous and deeply human. I look forward to working with the Board and leadership team to build a system that has the courage to innovate, delivers sustainable growth, and keeps compassion at the heart of every decision.”

Her approach consistently marries data with lived experience - ensuring technology serves outcomes, and protects space for compassion, never overshadowing human care.

“Dr Spencer brings an exceptional blend of scientific insight, operational excellence and visionary leadership. Her ability to bridge clinical rigour, digital innovation and authentic patient empathy will strengthen our board and support our long‑term ambition to improve patient care, outcomes and longevity.”  Dr Maurice Cox, CEO, Centric Health.

A Defining Moment for International Women’s Day 2026

This announcement comes at a moment when organisations worldwide are reflecting not only on the progress of women in leadership, but on the power of inclusive decision‑making to shape healthier, more equitable futures.

Dr Spencer’s appointment to the Board of Centric Health embodies that evolution: a leader whose career shows that when empathy informs strategy, innovation accelerates positive impact - and healthcare becomes not just better, but more accessible.
